One of my favorite discoveries for playing free music has been Rdio.  There's a lot there as far as albums and singles but what I like most are the playlists where you can make your own or listen to plenty of others.

Everyone's Mixtape includes songs for driving, late night, party, make out, Sunday morning, summer bbq and even holiday songs that don't suck.

Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival

Big updates happening with the Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival.  New artists to the bill include Drive By Truckers, Joe Pug and Dawes.  Still same crappy venue (The Congress) but at least a step in the right direction!

Best Chicago Music 2011

Here are some local acts that the Chicago Tribune likes a lot.  That Soft Speaker CD is great, thought it might have come out before this year (or I might have included it on my list!).

Um.  I don't read Spin very often these days.  Interesting list though.  Spin's Top 50 List.  For the press they get I would have assumed Wilco and Radiohead to be included.  Guess not.

Alabama Shakes: Tix Still Available
